Twitter Tuesday: Twits from the Tweetfleet

It has been almost two months since the last Twitter Tuesday! So today I asked my fellow Tweetfleeters to ask me anything and I'll answer it here on EVEOGANDA! The post will be upd`ted all day, so check back often.

@Grideris
What is the best way to dispose of a dead body?

According to Brick Top the best way to dispose of a body is feeding it to pigs. According to Breaking Bad it is dissolving the body in Hydrocloric Acid, but that didn't work out so well. So there are actually two answers, depending on your circumstances. If possible, burning is the best thing. Incineration even better. Once the body is ash, you can sift thru and remove the teeth. Teeth should be crushed with a hammer and disposed of. Burning is difficult,mostly due to access and the smell (it is distinct believe me), so the next best thing is actually burial. Clean the body well, wrap it in layers of plastic wrap if you do not have access to lime. Dig a deep hole in the forest somewhere, six feet is good, eight feet is better. A forest is better than a desert, because of the surrounding life. ( If you want to be sure, remove the teeth before burying the body and dispose of them as above ) Bury the body being especially careful to restore the surface to original conditions.

@gamerchick42
If you could be anyone in EVE, ie: have their power, fame, isk, pvp abilities, etc, etc, who would it be and why?

If I could just snap my fingers and be someone else in Eve? Tough question. Tough because I am pretty darn happy being Rixx, three plus years into a career that has spanned the length and breadth. But the question remains and it deserves an answer. It would have to be The Mittani, not because of any special ability or prestige, but simply to have dominion over Goons. The temptation to wreck havoc would be great, no doubt about that, but I would do the opposite and return Goons to the scoundrel, no-care roots from which they sprang. Over the last two years the Goons have not been the Goons. It would be good for Eve if they went back to being Goons again.

@MyrhialArkenath
What to do when it feels like others beat you to writing great blog posts on new ideas?

It does happen. And when it does it affords me the unique chance to take a deep breath and step back for a moment to consider the idea from a fresh angle. I can usually find something new in that thought process, something to add to the discussion and write about that instead. The Eve Community is just that, a community. And like any good community it works best when ideas are shared and expanded upon. After all "ideas" are a dime a dozen, it is the thinking that really matters. On the other hand, if people continue to beat you to the punch, maybe you need to get up earlier?

@h311ra1z3r
When will CCP implement True Sec in Empire? Inquiring minds would like to know.

True Sec needs to be implemented across all systems in New Eden, High, Low and Null. This is the only way to ensure across the board reforms and set the stage for continued growth. True Sec can form the basis of GCC Reforms that are needed and have been for years. So I am a huge advocate of sooner rather than later. I suspect we may be a ways away from implementation though. The soonest I could see anything happening is this Summer, but I have no reason to believe it. Maybe the new CSM can help move things along?

@KareesMoonshade
Of the new T3 Battlecruisers, which one do you enjoy the most, and how do you fit it?

I have had a chance to try three of the new BCs in combat now, the only exception being the Oracle. Believe it or not I am still missing a gun and, even though I went shopping yesterday, still forgot to pick one up. Once again the Minmatar win out and I like the Tornado the best. It is hard to argue with the ammo selections and the options they give you, and the Tornado is quick and tough enough to withstand damage. I went toe-to-toe with a Cynabal and came out victorious. I fit it for DPS with a buffer shield tank, dps in the lows along with a nano, and ACs in the highs. I like all of the new BCs but the Tornado is the best for killing things.

@MarcScaurus
Is it better to be loved, feared, or thought a fool as a pirate?

It is better to be loved by your friends, feared by your enemies and considered a fool by those in local.

@eenbal
Why are the Amarr so shiny?

The common joke behind their backs is it is because of all the Minnie slaves polishing the metal. But that isn't the real truth. In fact, the Amarr are generally an extremely dirty and repellent people in private and among themselves. Over the centuries their cultural psychotic bent took on many forms, fervent religious insanity, subjugation of other people, and highly polished metal surfaces, among others. This clean-sheen is only surface deep however, their insides, private quarters, undergarments, are hideous and foul. Try a surprise visit to an Amarrian friends house someday and he'll be "not home". When in fact he is hiding behind the curtains because he didn't have time to tidy up. Little known facts.

Twitter Hats

Mockery is a powerful tool.

Back on June 9th it occurred to me that the only real way to express my utter contempt for vanity items in Eve was to use the only visual tool at my disposal, the head and shoulders avatar. And what would I be able to do to it to express just how silly it all was? The answer, as all such things tend to be after the fact of inspiration, was obvious.  Hats.

The mere idea of our seasoned, scowl infested, tough-as-nails avatars wearing silly hats was profoundly funny. At least in my own humble opinion.

At first I simply used Rixx as the target for the silly hats, along with my own Twitter campaign in the midst of the Incarna Summer outrage. Along with various posts here on Eveoganda, it seemed like the perfect way to straddle the fence on what I considered to be a difficult razor. On one side the obvious silliness of CQ/Incarna, Aurum, and clothes no one could see. On the other a passionate caring for an Eve gone wrong.

Towards the end of June the little protest of mockery took a turn in a slightly unexpected direction when Mark from Eve Travel requested a Dunce hat for his avatar. Neither of us can remember the exact reason why he wanted such a thing, but he started using it on his own Twitter account. And so was born the expansion of what would come to be known variously as the Twitter Hats, or the Mad Hatter, or other descriptions.

Six months have passed and almost 160 hats. And Eve has moved on from Incarna to Crucible. The universe isn't the same anymore. Many of the Twitter hatted avatars aren't even using their be-hatted avatars anymore. And it seems obvious to me that it is time to put that moment of Eve history to rest.

The hats have served their purpose. Perhaps to a small degree, perhaps more so, who can know these things. They were part of the process however, that cannot be denied, not when so many of CCP's own are proud owners of hats, even the big guy at the top with his fluffy Viking hat.

But it is time to put them behind us and move on. However, since I am such a nice pirate type person, I will still be-hat your avatar, but only on request.  And while I will still do them for free I would consider a donation to Rixx a small price to pay, since he is a poor pirate that tends to get things exploded a lot.

The hats were a blast to do and I'm glad they made so many people happy. It still makes me smile when I see one of the hatted avatars pop up on Twitter.

So thanks to all of you that are wearing or have worn your hats with pride. That was fun.

Twitter Tuesday: Twits from the Tweetfleet

It's time for another installment of Twitter Tuesday!  That incredible moment when I run out of things to post about and beg my fellow Tweetfleeters for questions I can use to fill space!  Let's see what they have for me today shall we?

BuckyOhair
We all know a woodchuck can't chuck wood, but If a wood chuck could chuck wood how much wood would a woodchuck chuck?

Is that a European or African Woodchuck?  Seriously though, "Chucking" wood is an ancient Old English term for stacking. And, as most Woodchuck enthusiasts will tell you, the Woodchuck is exceptionally adapted in the fine art of stacking wood. Fuzzy, the current Guinness World Record holder, chucked 2,237 individual metric "cords" of wood in a 72 hour marathon at the 1993 World Chuck Cup in Bingingham, England. Sadly, Fuzzy collapsed shortly afterward and expired.

Korgtronix
What do you think of the rumoured bonuses of the new tier 3 BCs?

I am extremely excited about the new ships! Battleship DPS on a Battlescruiser hull is a very interesting and potentially >cough< game-changing development. It will probably go a long way towards re-balancing some aspects of the Eve universe and I've always been a fan of adding content to balance, instead of subtracting content to balance. Having said that I don't feel comfortable commenting specifically yet, not until we get more specific details regarding the bonuses each ship will be getting. So far though, I am very excited.

RossMP9999
How is anastasia today?

Thanks for asking. Anastasia is doing very well and is currently on a shopping trip in Dodixie. Yesterday she successfully moved our Providence out of Lisbo and transfered it to the market hub.  After this shopping trip she'll be working to collect our remaining assets and either sell or move them back to a more central location. Ana is hard at work studying for the Amarr Carrier V Certification, which will be the last remaining level V Carrier flying skill she needs. She is also holding weekly support group meetings in Dodixie, look up Pirate Wives on the Neo-Comm if you're interested in joining.

rickypedia
Does your alt give away free ISK and help new players like Robin Hood and you kill can flippers for them?

Ana has been known to help less fortunate pilots from time to time thru low-interest loans with generous terms, but nothing in this universe is free. We used to kill can-flippers but we got out of that business with the recent changes in our Sec Status.

EVE_Rhavas
When is your next know your lowsec corps post coming?

Soon. I took a break from that given the recent changes to my situation, leaving Burn Away and Lucifer's Hammer and joining Tuskers. There were political considerations that needed to be addressed and I didn't want to add to my troubles by saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Now that I'm firmly in my new Corporation we will be returning to that feature shortly.

DruurMonakh
Why do you guys have to be so chipper in the mornings? Cut it out!

I think this is getting confused with "chucking". Chipping is more the area of expertise of the Beaver, which is a whole other animal.

SindelPellion
If you were trapped on a deserted planet and could only fit two extra things in your hold, would one of them be my corpse?

Nope. I'd leave your rotten flesh where it belongs, on the dirt of some forgotten planet. Bodies are a commodity for us Capsuleers, your true body is already alive and well somewhere else in the universe and this husk with me is only dead meat.

Mel_Bandrom
What will tonights winning lottery (megamillions) numbers be?

Oh I know the answer to this one!!

KrispyDingo
Where do we go from here?

I think I'll let Earth, Wind & Fire answer this one: "Past emotions, filling my memories, Lovers potion that hypnotize. Could it be time has rearranged, what remains of the fire that lit our lives? Can it still survive. I felt so alone, though I knew you were right beside me. How could it be so? Will we ever be as near? To the world we held so dear? Tell me, where do we go from here? Where are the thoughts that disappear? Where do we go from here?"

Zama118
Why dont we see the corpse's for all the people who died in a ship, and not just the pod pilot...

You have to remember first and foremost that what you "see" is actually given to you through the neural connection between you and your ship. So much of your perception is censored by the ships computer, sensors, scanners and whatnots. In fact, it is well known that humans exposed to warp tunnels, for just one example, often lose their minds. So there are hundreds if not thousands of corpses floating in space around wrecks, but your ship filters those out to only show you what you need to see. In fact, one of the biggest expenses for the PvP pilot is the cleaning service stations provide, which mostly consists of scrapping splattered corpses from your ship when you dock. It is a disgusting grimy job, but in most areas it pays extremely well.

_noise_
Buffy, Willow or Faith?

Buffy. I'm such a sucker for those eyes. Although honestly, why do I have to choose? Isn't this my fantasy world here? I want all three.

Drackarn
Following my pic yesterday of the Hurricane/Tengu hanger bug. What would be the bastard child of those two ships?

I think we just saw that baby this morning.

webspaceships
Who wins: Enterprise-E vs a Drake?

I've never been fan of the rate of fire on the Enterprise, it sure seems to take forever between blasts. Of course they can also lob those shiny Photon Torps at you, but they seem slow and I wonder what type of damage they do?  Plus the Drake would get a free run for about five minutes, while the Enterprise crew works its way thru those confusing Starfleet regulations.  Opening advantage goes to the Drake, the Enterprise gets into structure early, but then someone on the Enterprise figures out the Drakes weakness at the last minute and BOOM. So winner Enterprise, although lots of scenes of the carnage onboard and that one genius kid that always gets killed. So sad.

HarlonMathuin
In your opinion, should we be excited for the winter expansion?

After everything that has happened since Incarna was released, I believe we have no other choice but to be extremely excited regarding the Winter Expansion. It is the stake in the ground, the planting of the flag, the course changing expression of all that has been promised. Should it fail it would be catastrophic for us, for Eve and for CCP. So let's hope that it will be all that it needs to be. Not over hyped, because that always leads to disappointment, but a great start on a new road.

Thansoli
Why do alliances argue about silly things?

First of all your thinking is backwards, these 'things' are not silly at all. They may seem that way to you, but believe me, these things are extremely serious, important and worthy of arguing about. In point of fact, there is little in the whole universe more worthy of debate, fighting and arguing than these things you speak of. All of Null Space hinges on these things, and without these things, things would never happen. Things wouldn't be getting done and things would settle into a thingless existence. Things. We need 'em.

Twitter Hat Wallpaper

Rixx Javix's Twitter Hat Collection Vol 1 Wallpaper

The first volume collection of Twitter Hats is now available as a spiffy Wallpaper for your computer desktop! I can think of no better way to celebrate the power of the Eve Community than sporting the Eve Community in your face every day!!

Either click on the image or the link to find various sizes to download on Flickr.

I think this piece has already started to become particularly significant since several of those pictured are no longer with us. I'm sure as time marches on that will become even more apparent. In a way, the Twitter Hats have become a semi-memorial, or a moment in time at least, to the diversity, strength and friendly power of our odd little group.

I started doing Twitter avatar hats on June 9th and over 150 hats have already been provided, some multiple times! (by trick, or by choice!) For those of you that remain un-hatted, do not despair, the plan is to continue putting hats on avatars for as long as you want them.  And the wallpaper will only continue to grow with each new addition. Volume II should sport nearly 300 hats I think.

When I look at the collection I see a story in every single hat and I know there is a person behind each one. For those hats that no longer have a person behind them, there is sadness, but also joy at the time we did share. And if the silly hats have one purpose, it is in sharing something together. Even if only for a moment.

I consider you all my friends.  Hats off to each of you.

One Step Too Far

Once I get on a roll regarding changes I can sometimes take things a little far. I know this about myself and freely admit it.

So, regarding yesterday's post about Twitter Hats... please ignore it.

I'll try to limit myself to one or two hats a day and continue dropping unsuspecting hats on people, those that ask and those that don't. The original goal was to be-hat all members of the Tweetfleet - so we'll stick with that goal for now and see how things go.

So, while change is good, some changes can be changed back.

152

As all things change, some things also must come to an end. The same holds true for Twitter Hats, the Tweetfleet Craze that started life as an angry protest and ended up somewhere to the left of vanity and right of badge of honor, must also come to an end.

As much as I've enjoyed making hats for everyone, I can't go on doing it forever.  So 19 hats from now, when the total hits 152 hats, I won't be making anymore daily hat avatars for Tweetfleet.

Now, those who remain without hats, do not lose heart. Am I a cruel, heartless person? No, I'm not. (I'll answer that for you!) So I will put a hat on anyone that requests it, but it will be loaded onto the Twitter Hat page for you to download and won't be posted on Twitter.  Does that make sense?

In other words I'll stop making daily hats to replace my own Twitter avatar with and will instead create hats only on request. Those new hats will be loaded onto the Twitter Hat page to take their place amongst the collection. You can download them there and use them however you want.

152 hats is a lot. Plus it is the exact number I need to complete the Twitter Hat Commemorative Edition Wallpaper.

Twitter Tuesday: Twits from the Tweetfleet

Sometimes when a Tuesday rolls around I have to ask my fellow Tweetfleeters to hit me up with any questions they'd like, serious, silly or just plain stoopid.

They never let me down.

@BuckyOhair
If a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil causes a hurricane off the coast of Florida, why don't we squash all the butterflies?

This isn't the first time this idea has surfaced, in fact it was the Aztec advisor QuaqualoopieTek that first suggested this action to his King. The King found his logic to be logical and so ordered the systematic elimination of all Butterflies in the kingdom. If you are wondering how things went... ask an Aztec.

@EvaPrawn
What would you do with the time you play EVE (and doing EVE-related things) if you stopped playing right now?

I'd probably finally get around to finishing one of the novels I'm working on, or that graphic novel I've been meaning to get done, or any one of a number of other projects that always seem to get pushed aside. Mostly though Eve fits nicely within my already packed, crazy, never stop for a moment life, so stopping wouldn't really change things all that much.

@Dracoth_S
Do you prefer flying armor or shield Merlins? Do you still fly frigs at all?

I prefer shield Merlins.  I do still fly frigs, although my ship flying goes in phases and spurts. I typically have 50 ships fitted and ready to go and tend to fly certain ships until I get tired of them. About a month ago I was flying mostly frigates, but then started flying AFs, then Broadswords and Devoters, lately some Command Ships... it all depends. I have been tinkering around with some new Frigate fittings and will probably start trying them out shortly. Variety is the spice of life.  Frankly I don't fly the Merlin much, although I do have a couple fitted up, because the Hawk or the Worm is so much better.  Although harder to get fights with.

@gamerchick42
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?

Real World - Always a tough one. It would be hard to pass up certain pivotal moments in our history, or ones that people tend to answer - like Christ's death. (Which would open a whole can of worms) But the past is dead and since you included the future, I would have to answer with any random moment from around 2,000 years into the future. When I think of how far we've come in the last 2k years a glimpse of 4,011 AD would tell you so much about where we're going. That would be very interesting.

EVE - There isn't really an event per se, but it would have been interesting to be around when Eve was turned on for the first time. The changes I've seen in just the past three years are amazing, I can only imagine what it would have been like to have been around since day one.

@PaPaGarheade
Why is it always @BuckyOhair's fault?

Ah, the Blame Bucky Temporal Quantum Conundrum (BBTQC) is a relatively little understood phenomenon that occurs when frankly anyone named "Bucky" is in close proximity to more than 5-7 people. This was first noticed during WW2 when several Privates named Bucky were blamed for the disaster at Dunkirk. This early discovery even found its way into popular culture at the time and resulted in the death of Captain America. Interestingly, several MIT scientists have postulated that the BBTQC effect works within the virtual world as well. I've written these scientists in regards to our own experiences with Bucky... hopefully I hear back from them soon.

@EzeriaMistanta
If you had to join another corp in New Eden which would it be and why?

Right now if I was forced to join another Corp it would have to be The Tuskers. Having flown with and against them so much in the last eight months I've gotten to know them and respect them more than ever. They seem to be more closely aligned with my own personal feelings about Eve than just about any other Corporation around. Although there are several others that I would also have to consider, at the moment, it would be them.

@lostoffworld
Why is British Top Gear brilliant and American version suck hairy goat balls?

As any intelligent, PBS watching human knows, anything said with a British accent is better than the same exact words said with any other accent, especially an American one. Funnier, wittier, more insightful, the British accent (in all its flavors) adds that extra "umph" to anything. Nothing proves this more than Top Gear.  Plus those little British cars are funny looking.
